A lawn party last night at Mr. and Mrs. D. T. McKinnon’s residence 131 Powell Street hosted by Westminster Presbyterian Church Ladies Missionary Society. New York August 26 Mr and Mrs Harry Payne Whitney after marriage have avoided the press. They hired a ferryboat for five hundred dollars for private transport across the East River from Newport to New York. They reached the Thirty fourth street Ferry House about 9 pm and were driven uptown in a waiting carriage. They likely spent the day at William C Whitney’s home.
Samuel Levy of Providence is hospitalized with severe injuries from an attack at midnight by Max Wisnerwitcher and Simon Meyosis of a bakery at 400 North Main Street. Levy, a rival shop employee, will be in the Rhode Island hospital about two weeks. The defendants deny guilt and are bound over for trial next Tuesday with John Nelson providing surety.
New York on August 27 reports that James J. Corbett was absent from today’s meeting, so no venue for the Corbett Sharkey fight was named. Corbett promised to attend the next gathering on Monday.
Cleveland August 27 The supreme lodge Knights of Pythias elect Philip H Cosgrove as supreme chancellor by acclamation in a formal meeting held today in the city authorities and attendees report the decision without opposition.
Ex Representative Philip J. Farley of Lowell is pushed as a possible chairman for the Democratic state convention. The free silverites may oppose his selection, while many on the state committee favor him to avoid trouble at the convention. Tomorrow's meeting is expected to reveal which side gains influence.

Gov Thomas Wiggin descendants and all Wiggin and Wiggins families plan a second reunion on Monday September 7 in Stratham New Hampshire. Last year drew about 300 attendees while about 1500 Wiggin families are known nationwide. B H Wiggin serves as arrangements committee chair.
