Labor unions face suit limits in injunction bid
The court heard arguments over whether unions and strike leaders can be sued or restrained. Counsel argued unions cannot be held personally liable outside of specific members, and that injunctions may be unnecessary as driving cards and nonunion goods rhetoric spark disputes. Judge Richardson weighed moral intimidation, coercion, and rights to discuss hours and wages, noting unions cannot override others’ rights. He reserved judgment on whether cards in windows and Boston beer ads merit injunctions.
