Appleby, aged 35, died after being taken to the city last week for insanity. He leaves a widow believed to reside in Leominster.
Fifteen Saturday drunks and seven Sunday drunks faced fines from one to ten dollars, with some sent to the state farm. Olive J. Partlow, about 16, tied to a $207 larceny from Miss Lizzie Spicer on Chelmsford Street, was arraigned but case postponed to Friday. Other defendants included Harry Spudas fined for obstructing a sidewalk, and Joseph Sousa plus Is rael Labelle discharged for lack of evidence. Henry Silk’s assault case postponed to May 3 with possible maiming charges pending. P. J. Smith and John Hurley larceny cases postponed to May 10.

In Gorham street a Saloon fight left Thomas O Connor with a knife wound to the eye destroying its use. Henry Silk allegedly struck him then returned after being expelled. Doyle suffered a hand cut before Silk was arrested by officers McKay and Hogan. O Connor resides at 1240 Gorham street and Silk at Kidder street.
Early Sunday morning lusty cries for help drew a crowd as young attackers assaulted a passer-by on Central street. The assailants fled down a back street at the call for aid, leaving the victim on the ground but reportedly uninjured.
Sister Ildephonsus of the Sisters of Notre Dame died at the Adams street academy on Friday after a lengthy illness. She was 33, had been in the community five years, and attended recent religious exercises. A solemn high mass was held at St Patrick’s Church with eulogies, choral tribute, and prayers. Burial followed in the Sisters’ lot at the Catholic cemetery. Elizabeth A. O’Malley, widow of William P. O’Malley, died at 10 Dunfey street aged 46. Mary Garon’s funeral was from Bay State court on West Fourth street with burial at St. Joseph’s cemetery.burial.
