Washington reports April figures show a 10 percent net gain in postal receipts for the nation's fifty largest offices compared with March last year. Total receipts reached $5,267,666 with Denver up 37 percent and Dayton 30 percent. declines occurred at Indianapolis Louisville St. Joseph Albany and Lowell. New York and Chicago volumes also climbed by 11 and 5 percent respectively.

In Niles Michigan on April 11 C E and F E Jones uncovered three human skeletons buried just 18 inches beneath the surface. The remains include two men and a woman with clear murder evidence. One man’s skull bears two bullet holes while another skull shows a crushing blow and the woman’s ribs are broken. Surgeons identify the skeletons as white and not Indian.
A party of Neah Bay Indians arriving in Victoria said the sealing schooner Viva from this port is ashore south of Flattery in a waterlogged condition. Victoria Sealing Company officials doubt the claim, noting no prior news. Viva, commanded by Capt McPhee, carries a mixed crew of whites and Indians.
