The petition cites statutory grounds with two co respondents. The couple married September 8 1892 and are about 25 years old. McIntyre Wilson represent the libellant and John J Harvey the libelee.
Traders National Bank offers $5 per annum deposits and savings at 4 percent per year compounded semi annually. Chinese General Tung at Fu Sian blames the Emperor for provoking the rebellion with his edict.
Seattle April 9 The torpedo boat destroyer Goldsborough built at Portland Oregon reached 31.84 knots on its second speed trial. Builders claim the craft has broken the Dahlgren Bath Maine record for its class.
The legislature committee on cities held a morning hearing at Lowell City Hall on revising the city charter. Mayor Dimon and City Solicitor Qua spoke for and against the draft, debating mayoral powers and council control. Charter advocate Nathan D. New York April 9 The Journal reports the Constitution and Independence will race off Newport next summer for a cup offered by the Newport Yacht Racing Association. Both yachtsmen have accepted invitations to join the cup race in July, with Lawson and Duncan considering entry. Duncan says Constitution is built to race and plans to compete whenever possible. He prefers Newport races over Sound or lower bay due to water depth.
P C Knox took the oath of attorney general today in the cabinet room at the White House. He was sworn in by Justice Shiras of the Supreme Court, marking a new chapter in the federal justice department.
In San Juan April 8 Charles M. Boerman an American lawyer practicing in Ponce sought a license to act as a notary but could not obtain it as the bond was not accepted since he is an American citizen. Lewis W. Barrows was found probably guilty by Judge Hadley in Lowell police court and held under $1200 bond for the grand jury on a charge of attempting to assault a little girl on Parker avenue. He pleaded not guilty and appeared deaf, with testimony from the child's mother Lena Green and witnesses Barton and Watt. Barrows claimed to have found the girl and offered to take her home. he denied recollection of the incident. Several other defendants faced charges including assault on a police officer, drunkenness, and fines, with sentences ranging from jail to the workhouse.
The probate and chancery committee met in executive session yesterday afternoon and voted to report leave to withdraw on two vivisection restriction petitions and on a petition for a system retiring probate judges. No dissenters were recorded.
