Washington April 6 The House passed the Senate concurrent Cuban resolutions 244 to 27. The galleries were crowded with many visitors from New York. It was expected the river and harbor bill would come up next. In Madrid, reports said the cabinet was in session awaiting the U S action and would discuss it in the afternoon.
At Second Baptist church in Chicago 1800 people were startled by a falling chandelier during a service. A chaotic crush followed as attendees rushed for exits, with several women trampled though no serious injuries were reported.
P N Kelly and the P N Kelly mercantile company have completed a settlement in St Paul with eastern creditors, who hold about three quarters of the property. Liabilities and assets are each around $500 000 as arrangements move forward.
In Haverhill on April 5 Arthur Bradley fought Richard Ingram for ten dollars a side in Blair's barn. Ingram died hours after the bout from a knockout blow. Police arrested Bradley, Meserve, Gibney, Whitney and two McIntoshs and McRae. Autopsy planned. several witnesses surrendered for trial.
Wakefield residents report Alexander Johnston a shipper at Boyd Co's Harvard knitting mill and Maud Marshall, a co worker, disappeared Friday. Johnston's wife found his clothes and a marked grip missing. Marshall's mother saw similar signs. Bank withdrawals and train plans point to Boston as a likely destination.
The Dutch steamer Wilhelm Fourth reports all quiet in Haytian ports after arriving from the West Indies. It notes a riot at Jacmel on March 27 with some shooting, but says the situation was settled after the ship’s departure.
Bentonville Ark April 6 A J Testament acquitted after four trials and one prior conviction and death sentence for the murder of Reverend Burrell at Pea Ridge. The long case ends with a Not Guilty verdict after extensive legal proceedings.
Herman Monahan remains at large after fatally shooting Robert Ramsay following a game of handball. The shooting occurred in Chicago on April 6, sparked by a dispute over a game result. Police describe a deadly altercation and seek Monahan.

Boston April 5 Chief Inspector Watts denounces Leadville Chief Burgess for freeing bigamist Franklin H Martin before Boston could arrest him. Martin jumped bail in February after marrying Alma Z Burnell in September 1895 while his wife lived in Medford. He ran a Washington street drugstore and a Dalton street Back Bay establishment for his new wife while liquor sales charges loomed. Relatives alerted authorities. Martin was jailed by Inspectors Cleary and Wolf, bail set at $800 by J S Seavey.
A warm Easter day across Lowell brought flowers, hymns, and sermons about the resurrection. Rev. William D. Joyce preached on the body’s general resurrection while Catholics and non Catholics filled churches for morning and vesper services. The Haggerty choir performed Concones Mass and Alma Virgo with the American orchestra lending support. Mrs. Haggerty served as organist with noted soloists.
A detailed report describes the Immaculate Conception church Easter decorations with flowers, lamps, and brass electroliers lighting the sanctuary. Prelude processions and a 10.20 high mass featured Rev. Fr. Lawrence with a choir, highlighting the resurrection theme from the Gospel of St. Mark.

Rev. C. B. Wathen, who served six years as pastor of the South Main Street Congregational church in Manchester, tendered his resignation during Sunday service. He previously led the Congregational church in Chelmsford Centre before coming to Manchester.
The Dowager Duchess of Manchester will spend the summer at Newport as guest of Mr J J Van Alen. She will arrive late in July and is likely to be accompanied by her son the Duke of Manchester.
At St. Peters church the solemn requiem mass at 10 o clock filled the building. Rev Fr McManus celebrated with Fr McKenna as deacon and Fr McDonough as sub deacon. Fr McKenna gave a forcible sermon while potted palms and lilies decorated the sanctuary. Extra candelabra lit the space. The mass song used Haydn and Weber pieces. Mr T F Molloy directed the choir. D P Shedd of Boston led the orchestra. In the evening vesners were sung.
A large attendance filled St Patrick s sanctuary for a solemn requiem mass with Fr Leonard Fr Burke and Fr Gleason presiding. Haydn s sixteenth mass was sung with Hibbard s orchestra and E F Faulkner directing. Vespers followed with the Olympia orchestra. At St Joseph s a morning high mass by Fr Nolin drew a vast crowd, with Fr Forget deacon Fr Kerwin sub deacon and Fr Lamothe preaching. The afternoon vespers featured Fr Forget with Frs Lamothe and Nolin, accompanied by the Olympia orchestra.
Fr Reynolds celebrated high mass at Sacred Heart yesterday morning with Very Rev Fr Guillard delivering the sermon. An augmented choir sang Mozart's twelfth mass and the vesper service was led by Fr Reynolds amid palms and callas in the sanctuary.
Special music with instrumental pieces conducted by Mr Warburton enhanced several St Michael’s services. The altar was brilliantly lighted with flowers and plants creating a fine effect as Rev Fr Scannell preached a fitting sermon at the high mass.
County Commissioners held a morning hearing at North Chelmsford town hall on finishing the Princeton street extension. Citizens from Lowell and Chelmsford urged routes through Middlesex street or to the turnpike, with Main street opposition. A near-unanimous sentiment favored completing the highway to the turnpike, while state highway officials awaited a petition choice and a final decision.

This morning before Judge Blodgett at the Superior Court the jury in Hutchins vs Woodworth retired Friday and returned a verdict for the defendant. H S Courtney for the plaintiff and F E Dunbar for the defendant. In Leary v town of Dracut a capital judgment of 400 dollars was entered for the plaintiff with J J and W A Hogan for plaintiff and J Davis for defendant. The case Giblin pro ams v Faulkner administrator is on trial, a tort action for injuries to a nine year old child from a defective stairway. G W Poore for the plaintiff and C H Conant for the defendant.
The Water Board will send bills twice yearly to prevent evasion after a past incident with B D O Connell. Notices warn that unpaid bills must be settled by Monday or water service will be shut off until arrears are paid.
Bernard J. Wefers will appear in a 30 yard dash at the Boston College Athletic association exhibition tomorrow evening. He seeks a new record for the distance and is in fine condition, starting off quicker than any man in the country. He will also run in the open 30 yard dash and the 440.
A live wire sparked a blaze on the awning in front of Moir Bros. on Merrimack Street this noon. The fire was put out quickly by the chemical, causing little damage beyond the new awning. H. C. Church & Son insured the awning.
Younger pupils of Miss Josephine Coburn presented a pianoforte recital at the Middlesex Woman's club rooms on Saturday afternoon. Their playing showed painstaking effort under the teacher. Miss Coburn and Mrs. D. A. Floyd sang duets, with Dr. L. B. Fenderson of Boston assisting at the piano.
