State Oil Commission to Hear Lea County Gas Pool Boundaries
The State Oil Conservation Commission will hold a hearing on January 21 to fix boundaries and set purchase regulations for a gas pool in Lea County. The pool lies one mile south of Monument and 744 miles southwest of Hobbs at sections in townships 20S 37E and 19S 37E. Production comes from Queen Formation at about 3600 feet and Clark and Christie Co. of Hobbs seeks official designation. If granted, the commission will set the ratable take requiring gas buyers to purchase from all producers in the pool when offered at a like rate.

Portales Chamber Boss Builds 10-Foot Bomb Shelter

Funeral services held in Lubbock for Rev. James A. Laney
Funeral services were held in Lubbock September 7 at 3 p m at the First Methodist Church for Reverend James A Laney 75 of Lubbock. He was the father of Mrs. Tom Tomlinson of Granc Rapids Michigan, formerly of Lovington. John Laney, formerly of Lovington and a Lovington High football player, was fatally injured August 21 in an automobile accident near Levelland.

Final rites for Harvey Roy Williams were held Friday at 2 30 PM at the Church of Christ in Hobbs. Williams died September 6 in a Ft. Worth Veterans Hospital. He was from a prominent Lea County ranch family and a retired copper melter foreman. He lived with his sister and brother in Hobbs for three years. Burial was in Lovington Cemetery. Survivors include five sisters and several in-laws and nieces.
