Roswell faces a coal shortage with two rail cars in town and no stock for many. Dealers may pull loads from New Mexico and Oklahoma fields to meet demand, risking higher prices. A local leader argues building a regional coal road could save costs and improve rail links.
A crew from Horace Walling’s site works on Gaines County’s first silo. Local residents labored days to bring feed to shops. Two gasoline engines failed to power the cutter until Pinalls Arthur Dow’s Hupmobile helped. Seminole youth aided by wagon to boost effort. all show silos require ample feed and teamwork.
A local prayer meeting is placed under a rotating committee to run future programs. Bible study will be included at each gathering. For next Thursday the fourth chapter of Genesis has been chosen as the lesson with a new leader each week. All are invited to attend and help build Christianity in Ovington.

Report describes a crew repairing the road between here and Roswell. The road, when completed, is hailed as the best route to the Valley. Roswell earns credit for the project and the Plains people are expected to benefit from the improved link and trade.
The Civic Improvement Club will host a box supper at the Mason building next to the canning factory next Friday night. A short program is planned and attendees are asked to bring boxes and bring friends.
Notice posted at the Lovington post office states contracts will be let to Starmail Lines for four years with six weekly trips between Carlsbad and Lovington. The plan doubles service, linking plains communities with routes of 107 to 113 miles, starting July 1 1914.
A. M. Ellis traveled to Seymour Texas to aid his wounded brother who was shot while attempting to arrest a man. The bullet passed through just below the right lung but the brother could sit up and no serious results were expected. Mr. Pool of Dundee, a nephew of Ellis, joined and planned a stay on the plains.
