Lovington Trade Booms As Merchants Expand Reach

Merchants in Lovington report rapidly growing trade with freight volumes increasing weekly. Last Monday two thousand dollars of goods arrived in town with shipments continuing from nearby towns and from Jamesa and Midland Texas. Local merchants praise increased railroad interest and anticipate further growth in Plains commerce this Prosperous year.

Post Office Business Increasing Rapidly Near Lovington

In the Lovington area the local post office shows steady settlement growth with receipts nearly doubling in two years. Mail throughput now averages 1500 pounds weekly, indicating the region’s rapid development as a settled community. Post Master F.G. Shepard, serving three years, is well regarded by patrons.

VEMS FROM PLAINVIEW SHARES CHRISTS SEAT FUND DRIVE

A Plainview schoolhouse meeting Saturday elected G W Bottom chairman and E F Green Lee to organize a Christmas Eve box supper to raise funds for new school seats. A Christmas Tree event will follow, promising a good time, with new goods arriving for local merchants. Plainview reports a restaurant run by Mrs Green and Joe Browns new blacksmith shop on Main Street. J W Lipscomb returned from a Lubbock trip with four second hand engines. Mr and Mrs Sam Hunter visited Plainview Saturday.

Dry Goods Arrive Ahead of Christmas at Ancll's Store

A portion of dry goods has arrived and will continue to arrive until Christmas, inviting customers to browse and view offerings with pleasure whether they buy or not at T. M. Anell's Store.
