ICC Approves Freight Rate Boost In New Mexico
The ICC approved a 35000 dollar per year rail rate increase for intrastate shipments within New Mexico. Lea County Cotton Acreage to be Cut for 1955
Lea County cotton acreage for 1955 is cut about 34 percent from 1954. One farmer reported 1954 acreage of 100 acres will receive 96 or 95 for 1955. Statewide figures released show 80 percent of the crop gathered and more than 26 000 bales gin ned with expectations of up to 6000 more. The crop grade is high due to low moisture, with some farms yielding over two bales per acre and most cotton placed in government loans.

Brand Rules Negro Teacher Must Be Given A Contract
