He cites opposition from a small group of leaders in the National Association of Soil Conservation Districts to abolishing seven regional soil conservation offices and transferring functions to state offices. The plan would also eliminate the production and marketing administration and the bureau of agricultural economics, with duties moved to other agencies.

A Lea County tract in Anderson Ranch Pool drew 515.40 per acre for 130.21 acres, selling to Plymouth Oil of Linton, Texas for 67,110.00. Final Rites Held Thursday For Mrs Lillian T Ross
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Trixie Ross age 72 were held Thursday at 3 p m with Hugh Harris minister of the First Christian church of Lovington officiating. She was born in Terrell Texas November 12 1881 married to Tom Ross in 1904 and died November 4. Survivors include daughter Mrs Herman Culp of Roswell and grandson Crawford Culp of Kevington two brothers Olin and Way Hardin. The family moved to Gaines County in 1903 and filed a land claim in 1912 making them early area pioneers. Burial was in Lovington Cemetery beside her husband.

Record Sales Tax September Surpasses Five Million
Santa Fe reports September’s total state and gasoline tax receipts exceed 5.3 million dollars. Whitley Services Held In Tatum For 94 Year-Old John V Whitley
Funeral services for John V. Whitley were held last Saturday in Tatum with Rev. Walter Walker of Portales and Rev. Joe Bickley of the Tatum Methodist church officiating. Whitley, 94, died Thursday in a Lubbock Texas hospital after living in the area since 1909. B. F. Glover Dies Suddenly in Hobbs
Beecher F. Glover known as B F Glover of Hobbs died suddenly Sunday at the Old Airbase. He was nearly 63 and lived in Hobbs 30 years.
