Mr Bill Humphrey of 71 S W Avenue F and Mrs Humphrey welcomed a daughter born Friday morning October 29 at Sea Count General Hospital Hobbs. The infant weighed 6 lbs 1 oz. Mr Humphrey heads the Tatum branch of the Lovington National Bank.
Local women became scout leaders after an Investiture at Den Woody Camp conducted by Ellen Brodbeck from Roswell. Participants included Christine Mhoon Rosa Pane Evelyn Kirby Nell Jeffry Frances Waide Mrs R N Carminata Mrs W N Hunt and Mrs E E Hamilton. The Investiture closed a four day training program held last month.
Sheriff Jewell McAdoo and deputies conducted a periodic jail search Monday afternoon. They found no weapons and stated the check was a safety measure to ensure security inside the county jail.
Albuquerque AP dispatch reports Attorney General Herbert Brownell visiting New Mexico to bolster Republican support before the election. He criticized communism and corruption, cited endorsements from the Mine Mill and Smelter Workers as carried by the Daily Worker, and asserted union backing would not go to Mechem. He praised Eisenhower era gains and payroll security efforts.

Events include registrations, keynote address, luncheons, workshops, banquet, dance, church services, committee sessions, pot luck, and a closing rally with entertainment. The Lovington Wildcats defeat Tucumcari 19 to 0 to clinch a district title and advance to state playoffs. semi final at NM A&M Las Cruces on November 20.
Samuel Rankin, owner of Rankin Jewelry in Hobbs, is sued in Loving ton District Court for 25000 by Jewell Carver and William D. Carver. The petition alleges Rankin assaulted Jewell Carver at an Air Base City home on October 2 with violent striking, vulgar language, and injuries requiring hospitalization. Damages include 10000 in compensatory and 10000 in punitive damages for Jewell and 5000 for medical costs sought by W D Carver.
County agent Bill Rawlins teams with Carl Johnson of Lea County cattle growers to promote beef consumption. Posters and highway signs are being prepared to support moving cattle at fair prices and counter price support concerns. The effort aims to boost consumer demand and keep an open market for ranchers.

The State Department says Mrs. Karl Sommerlatte will leave Moscow within days after Russia branded her as undesirable following a scuffle at the American Embassy. Her husband, a second secretary, will accompany her and be reassigned to Washington.
