Library Moves to New Location in City Hall
The City Library, run by the Business and Professional Women's Club, relocates from the Court House basement to the old Municipal Utilities office in City Hall. Mayor Leonard Richards and the City Council arranged the move, with hours unchanged from 1 to 5 p.m. daily and several volunteers listed for the library committee and supporters.

Ronnie Bilbrey two year old son of Mr and Mrs W H Bilbrey was released from Lea County Community Hospital Saturday morning. He is recovering after a head wound from an accidental rifle discharge while playing at home earlier in the week.

Oil Center Bible School Opens Parade to Begin Two Week Session
The Oil Center vacation Bible school began Monday under Carl Palsay Snipes as superintendent of the Oil Center Baptist Sunday school. Departments mirror the regular Sunday school with nursery beginners primary junior and intermediate leaders. Activities include Bible study missionary work scripture memorization and handiwork with flannel boards for younger groups. Juniors and intermediates will build chairs for younger students. Registration concluded after a parade last Saturday.

Lea County Tops New Mexico in Paved Secondary Roads
United Press notes Lea County has the most paved secondary roads in New Mexico with 204 miles on the federal aid secondary system. The report by State Highway Engineer Burton Dwyer states the state has 1 470 miles paved on the federal aid primary system and 2 700 miles on unpaved secondary roads, with 400 miles of paving planned for 1951.

The Wilhoit Bataan Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a two night screening of The Black Rose at Lea Theatre on May 31 and June 1. Burness Neal, a Carlsbad youth, was sentenced to death by electric chair after a Lea County jury deliberated, beginning at 6 05 Saturday night. Neal testified bravely and stood firm under cross examination by District Attorney Randolph Reese.

REA Election June 4 At Youth Center
The REA annual meeting is set for June 4 at 1 30 p.m. in the Youth Center with notices mailed to stockholders. The Lea County Electric Co op public ownership is urged to attend and bring membership receipts to vote. Receipts are required to vote and those without them should obtain them. Neal repudiated his confession saying fatigue caused it. The jury did not grant clemency and under New Mexico law death is mandatory. Judge Roy C Anderson will sentence Neal on June 4 after explaining options for first degree murder with intent to armed robbery. Neal faced the death penalty for the Dec 27 1950 killing of a white taxi driver in Carlsbad.

Cubs Hold Last Summer Pack Meeting
The final Cub Scout Pack meeting of the year was at Scout Hut Monday night. Awards were given and three Cub Scouts graduated into scouting.
