Mora County Tragedy as Woman Slays Man on Main Street

Mrs. Frederion ft de Sanchez shot and killed Desiderio Dialbando on a main Mora County street after an alleged drunken dispute. The shooting followed an encounter with Dialbando and a female companion. Sanchez was arrested and released on $2000 bond.

San Marcial Juan Romero shot Jesus Herrera believed to betray his daughter Patricia after returning home he fired a shot into Patricia's head leaving a serious wound. The girl had become a mother on Wednesday and Herrera recently married a Val Verde woman. Romero confessed to brooding over the affair and is jailed at Socorro.

Mora County man sentenced in murder case and cattle theft

Las Vegas reports Emery and Coursey, indicted for the murder of Clyde Wiggins, receives a sentence of two and a half to four years in the state penitentiary. He may stand trial on the murder indictment at the next term. Also, a cattle theft conviction at the Mora county term was handed to another defendant. Andres Babell’s case for forcing a Solan woman to marry him was dismissed after the woman consented to wed Babell in a justice of the peace ceremony.

Reprieve Granted in Hightower Montes Murder Case

Governor McDonald seeks reprieve for Vedro Montes and Lauein C Hightower who faced hanging for murder in Silver City. The Supreme Court ordered District Judge Neblett to show cause within ten days why appeals should not be granted. Reprieve remains until the matter is settled by the Supreme Court.

Ten Mexicans have been killed in the last weeks by American soldiers who caught them cutting the field telegraph wire in the region. The reports say wire cutting has ceased since the killings appeared to stop further activity.

The two year old son of Ben Akers of Bear Creek ranch was burned to death at Qe ranch when left alone on a bed. Upon return the bed was in flames and the child succumbed shortly after. Authorities suspect the child ignited matches found in a coat pocket.
