Two Men Held In Tatum Are In Pen Now
Two men arrested in Tatum last Tuesday are serving time in the state penitentiary in Santa Fe for forgery. Curtis Elswick of Pikeville Kentucky and George W Harper of Starkville Mississippi pleaded guilty in Portales last Thursday to forgery and received 15 to 18 months. They forged checks on J M Shipp, cashed them with Shipp signature, and fled Portales after Alabama officers located them.

Florence Dibell Bartlett, 72, heiress to a hardware fortune, died after falling from a Chicago penthouse. Police say a witness saw her climb over the roof parapet and plunge to her death. DWI arrest after Eunice pickup crash on Sauzeay night
Ralph Carver f 1953 Ford rammed the rear of J C Clover 1954 Chevrolet pickup in Eunice around 10 pm. The Ford skidded 240 feet with no injuries. Carver was charged with DWI and jailed by Deputy R C Hayes. The crash follows a string of reportedly careful driving incidents involving Clover.
