Lea Countians are warned to watch their step for rattlers and other reptiles coming from dens after warm days. Doctors and drug stores stock serum for snake bites. cowboys and prospectors are advised to carry it. Ranchers use long-handled spades to strike at snakes, avoiding stooping near the ground. Small rattlers are as poisonous and quick as large ones. venom not tied to number of rattles.
