Lovington Man Bound Over On Statutory Assault Charge
In Lovington a 21 year old man was bound over to district court on a statutory rape charge after a preliminary hearing. Also charged are Julian Holcomb, 23, and a 17 year old, all tied to an assault on a 13 year old Hobbs girl. The girl testified she was picked up near a Hobbs cinema and taken to a secluded area where the assault occurred after she refused relations. The doctor confirmed rape, and the pair faced additional questioning by officials.

Amnesia Victim Richard Patton Remains Missing in Hobbs
An 85 year old amnesia victim, Richard Patton, 6 foot 1, 195 to 200 pounds, hazel eyes and dark complexion, disappeared in Hobbs Tuesday. He left at 9 AM and told his wife to call police if not home by noon. Mrs. Patton reported him missing at 9 PM. He was found in Oklahoma City about a week ago. Police seek any information on his whereabouts.

Reverend Rozell Dies Suddenly in Hobbs Family Man Remembered
Lennie C. Rozell known as Rozell, longtime Lea County resident, died Tuesday evening at Lea General Hospital after moving from Oklahoma to Eunice in 1945 and Hobbs in 1950 where he worked as a tool pusher for Barlow Construction and Well Service. He was 42 and survived by his wife Mable Irene, eight children, his mother in Albuquerque, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral arrangements are pending with Green Funeral Chapel.
