The Numbers Game in NSA Surveillance Debate
The Obama administration uses figures to justify NSA surveillance while Congress questions privacy protections. Officials cite 50 thwarted plots across 20 countries with 10 to 12 directed at the U.S., and note 702 and 215 programs. Key cases include Headley in Chicago, Zazi in Colorado, and a plot near the New York Stock Exchange.
