An Atlanta man, 42 year old Elbert Lowell Townley Jr., died from a broken neck after a Tuesday car crash on U S Highway 54 near Corona. His passenger, Lauran Bunderson, 39, sustained a broken leg. excessive speed was blamed. The fatality does not count toward the Memorial Day tally because the accident occurred before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Water Prospect Found South Of Town
City officials report good prospects for water after drilling a test well in the Denco addition south of town. Sand samples from the 190 foot level are under study and engineers say bids for further drilling will likely be sought next week. The new well will feed into existing water supply lines.

Four Jailed For Robbery In Farmington
Four robbery suspects a man and three women are being sent back to Farmington to face federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution charges. FBI Albuquerque chief N R Johnson said three were arrested in Gallup and the fourth in Deming. Names given include Norman Gardner Sammy Keessee Rosalie Hilliard and Alice Hilliard. A federal warrant followed a Farmington police request. The group was arrested May 10 and charged with robbing a Farmington man of about 1900 dollars.

Man Killed in Mining Mishap near Cuba New Mexico
A Lynn Missouri man, 33 year old Clif ford Dessieux, was killed in a mining accident near Cuba in Sandoval County. He was pinned against a tree by a crawler tractor near the mine in the Eureka Mesa area, dying instantly. He and his father had been operating the claim briefly. Parole Denied for Bobby Doyal in stepmother murder case
Lea County youth Bobby Doyal, convicted in 1953 of killing his stepmother and her daughter on a ranch, was denied parole by Governor John F. Simms.
