Gunshots Fail To Halt Man Wanted For Thefts In Utah
Lea County Undersheriff Jake Fort chased Buck Nix through open fields after spotting him in Humble City. Nix resisted arrest, fled outside, and eluded Fort despite shots fired and help from State Police and deputies. Nix is wanted on a burglary warrant in Moab Utah and on a grand larceny charge in Lea County.

Lea Court Ruling is Reversed
The New Mexico State Supreme Court reversed a Lea County district court ruling in a workman’s compensation case by R. T. Waller a Hobbs oilfield worker against Shell Oil Co. Police Chief Revealed as Escaped Convict in Alabama
Authorities allege charges will be filed after investigating Edmund Burton’s criminal past. Burton, described as a “darn good” police chief, was arrested in connection with an arson probe at a house he owned in a separate town. He had begun a one month remaining on a three year sentence for petty larceny.
