Lovington youths are invited to enter the regional Golden Gloves tournament in Carlsbad February 3 to 5. Sponsored by the Carlsbad Elks and the Daily Current Argus, the event welcomes amateurs 16 and up in novice and open classes. Winners advance to Roswell state and then Chicago with expenses paid. Tournament director Bob Boyd urged strong Lovington participation through the Elks Club or P O Box 809 for entry forms.

Death of Earl E. Stiles In Albuquerque Car Suicides
Earl E. Stiles, 44, son of Lovington barber C. Ernest Stiles, was found dead of a gunshot wound in his car in Albuquerque. A coroner jury ruled death a self-inflicted act. Survived by wife, two daughters Betty Joe McGuire and Luann Stiles of Albuquerque, a grandson Mike McGuire, his father C. E. Stiles of De Ridder, three sisters, and a brother Jess C. Stiles. Stiles worked as an accountant with Miller and Smith and was Sierra County clerk from 1932 to 1936.

Fonzo Caudill 58 of Lovington died in Albuquerque after a December 19 stroke. He was the son of E. M. Caudill, long-time Lovington real estate pioneer. Services were held December 31 after his son arrived from Korea. he leaves two other sons, siblings, and a brother in Albuquerque.

In Hobbs at Grimes and Snyder crossing a collision between a Texas and Pacific freight locomotive and a 1946 Oldsmobile driven by Ozema Ball injured three children. Burglars Hit Cash Way Market In Hobbs Theft
Four men—three Hobbsons aged 19 26 33 and a Seminole Texas man 29—were arrested after breaking into Cash Way Market about 2 am. The 1400-pound safe was moved to the sidewalk as they fled toward Seminole with about $16 000 in cash and $13 000 in checks. Police chased them down and seized high powered rifles. no one resisted. Entry came through a front window. replacement cost estimated at over $125 for the window. The case awaits district court dates.
