Mrs. Jack Crane of 106 West Cain Hobbs reported a theft of a green corduroy coat and black corduroy slacks from her clothesline during Thursday night into Friday morning. Police were notified early Friday.

Eunice Woman Killed In Lea County Car Truck Crash
Lea County's first fatal 1956 auto accident occurred 14 miles south of Hobbs on State Road 18 near 9:45 a.m. Friday. Neva Lee Green, 47, of Eunice, driving a 1951 Chevrolet, collided head on with a Continental Oil Co. truck driven by Buford Lee Hogue, 48, of Hobbs. Police said Green pulled into the left lane to pass three cars, then into the truck's path. Hogue tried to avoid the crash but the vehicles tangled, the car a total loss and the truck rolling over the light vehicle. The cause was listed as driver error with no excessive speed. Funeral services for Mrs. Green were conducted in Hobbs Saturday at 3 p.m. She is survived by her husband, John E. Green, a Moran Drilling Co. employee, one sister Lizzy Hardy of Tyler, Texas, and there are no other known survivors. Burial followed in Houston, Texas.

The sheriff reports theft and damage to Empire Gie Physical Co. trucks about 16 miles east of Lovington on the John Waits ranch with losses over 1200 dollars.
