Firemen Respond to Three Alarms Near Lovington
Lovington volunteers fought three fire alarms on February 16. They battled a grass fire at Oren Neal's home and two blazes that destroyed 1000 acres on Jim Reed’s ranch. Fire crews contained the blaze edges and steered it toward a road fire break, preserving hundreds of acres. Reed thanks the firefighters for their untiring efforts.

The New Mexico basketball tournament will be held in Tucumcari March 8 10 and 11 with sales starting February 17. About half the gym seats will be reserved for season ticket holders to help out of town fans and allow communities to buy blocks of seats.
