The Lakewood area shows strong truck farming activity with high yields and a canning factory ready to process produce. Lovington readers note farmers should embrace a water proposal to compete and expand acreage.
The death of Mr. Shell near Seminole at age 38 shocks the community. He was a prominent civic and religious figure involved since the town's founding, respected as a wise adviser to many. He leaves a wife and one young son. heartfelt sympathy is extended to the family.
A Friday dance drew about 100 attendees who arrived before eight and filled the hall. A break for dancers followed by a refreshment table disrupted the music, then dancing resumed and continued late into the night with more treats provided.
The Singing School of Plainview drew a large audience including Caudill of Hester, Mr. Biles and family, with Mr. Lewis as teacher. Grandmother Wiggins celebrated her 80th birthday with relatives and friends, and J A Cooper traveled to Lovington on business.
Hotel arrivals list for the past week includes guests from Lubbock Carlsbad Amarillo Seminole and Knowles New Mexico and Texas locations. Notable names include E J King F S Franks J E Willson T C Ivy Harden C W Small Bob Mayore D T Rodger King N M and Tehoka Tex.
Rev J A Scoggins arrived from Clarendon Texas to take charge of the Methodist Church for the Lovington circuit. He will reside in the parsonage at Knowles and preach to residents of Knowles and Monument. Mrs Scoggins is a young minister new to the field. hear him next Sunday February 23 at 11 AM.
A. W. Roberts a veterinary from Lamesa Texas is in town today to assist with the ailments of county charges. Mr. Briggs and Mr. Watson arrived with 25,000 pounds of chamber for the then 1. O. O. FY hall on Wednesday.

The Lovington canning factory announces it will be installed and in operation soon. Directors M J Forrester J D Hart J D Graham R H Love push for large acreages to be planted for the coming season to supply local markets.
