Mrs. A. D. Sawyer reports North Lea County residents donated 4066 dollars to the March of Dames fund. The Lions Club gave a radio auctioned for 100 dollars won by Wendell Hoyt. A dance at the American Legion Hall netted 1100 dollars with only orchestra costs paid. Coffee Day receipts from El Rancho 26.50 Steakhouse 50 and Truckers Cafe 74 added to the total.

Funeral service for Hawk Medlin Thursday
Funeral services are set for Thursday at 3 o clock in the Smith Yarbro Chapel for Mathew Hawkins Hawk Medlin who died suddenly Wednesday morning of a heart attack. Pastor Garnie Atkinson will lead the service with a long list of pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in Lovington Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Dink Medlin two children and four sisters. The family lived on a ranch near Mallamar before moving to Lovington.

Three Injured In Truck Wreck
S D Jones of Lovington and Ray Douglas of Oklahoma City were hospitalized with injuries after a pickup failed to negotiate a curve on the Tatum highway near the REA building. The driver suffered a head injury and was ejected. Douglas had severe bruises. A third man, Williard Kent, 24, of Lovington, was treated and released.
