Farm Prices Rise One Percent in Mid January
The Agriculture Department reports farm prices received for crops and livestock rose one percent for the month ended January 15. Despite the gain prices were seven percent below level a year earlier. Production costs and living supplies bought by farmers also rose one percent. Farmers’ terms in mid January averaged 80 percent of parity, unchanged from mid December. The index for crops and livestock was 226 percent of the 1910-14 base, up from 223 in December and 243 a year ago.
