Two Eunice Brothers Die In Highway Crash
Benjamin Franklin Laney and Charles Henry Laney, both from Amarillo area, died after a pickup they rode in collided with a Goldsmith Texas car on Highway 18 four miles south of Hobbs. The vehicle rolled three times and both were thrown free. Charles died at the scene while B F Laney died about an hour later at Lea County Community Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday at Green Chapel with burial in Rake Haven Cemetery.

Walter Crain Dies After A Long Illness
Walter C. Crain, 53, owner of the Self Service Laundry at 418 East Taylor Hobbs, died at the VA hospital in Big Spring Texas after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Hazel of Hobbs, a brother Willard, and a sister Mrs. S Nelson of Racine Wisconsin. He had lived in Lea County 23 years. Griffin Funeral Home Hobbs will conduct services Saturday with Reverend Ray Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Haven.

Parker Sentenced In Lea County Involuntary Manslaughter Case
Robert Owain Parker of Cotton Wood near Artesia received a 3 to 4 year sentence with 6 months suspended on mercy after a verdict by 9 men and 3 women.
