The Leader calls local merchants to submit Christmas advertising and asks neighbors from other towns to contribute. It seeks early arrangements for a special Christmas issue or intermittent publications to accommodate advertisers.
Prospectors from Texas named Jeakley of San Antonio with J R Day leman arrive in our town Monday to seek climate and fertile soil notes. They report ranchers pasturing stock, towns rising, and institutions forming while our school lists six teachers and plans for more.
Prospectors led by C. C. Fouts and partners arrived in Lovington on Monday by twos and fives. They praised local sights and hotel facilities, repaired an axle at Lovington Auto Garage, and noted good accommodations. Mrs M F Clardy will move into their home this week. Mrs Wesley M Cal to Roswell on arrival.
Nadine notes describe a severe Thanksgiving wind and travel disruptions. J M Sparks of Robert Lee Texas remains in the community, seeking to dispose of his property. Hobbs residents plan and cancel celebrations due to the sandstorm while others visit Midland or Carlsbad for work or supplies.
Local residents report various small events from Nadine and Monument. The schoolhouse fire frightened pupils on Friday morning, while Nadine now features a barber shop run by E W Woodard.
About 350 people attended the showing of Enoch Ar den at Majestic Hall last Saturday night. Attendees praised the ocean scene ship wreck and the sentimental portions as highly excellent.
Prof Poore and W H Knorr spent a day in our town visiting the school, praising its progress and urging teachers and pupils on. Poore noted the six teachers already employed and predicted a term with seven or eight, amid sixty primary pupils needing better instruction.
The son of a Lovington grocery freighter was run over by a wagon wheel and badly bruised and lacerated. The incident occurred while he walked beside his father’s wagon. no bones were broken. Prof Poore and W H Knorr assisted by transporting the boy to Lovington for medical care.
A. Jackson and son Tom along with Marlin Pratt returned from Ros wel on Monday returning from travel with no further details available.

John A. Ragle of Livingu ON filed intent to make final proof to establish a claim on land Lots 9-10 15-16 Sec 6 Two R 36 NM PL M. Rev Beaushamp preached practical German Sunday to a receptive congregation including Mrs Bud Melton and guests in Roswell. The Meltons reported satisfaction with their new home. Dick Powers W M Beauchamp and Eugene Kinde visited Carlsbad midweek, with Ed Wise arriving from Lubbock to visit family.

A suggestion to the Leader asks farmers and stock growers to begin planning now for the largest and best Plains fair yet. With the year IS 6 approaching, it urges using holidays to meet and set a plan for next year’s event.
