History of the New Mexico Hereford Association
The New Mexico Hereford Association began in the early 1940s to hold an annual Albuquerque sale but faded after three failed attempts. The Clovis activity drew members to move the sale to Clovis during the Southwestern Cattle Festival. The 1950 Clovis sale drew more breeders, leading Bert C. Roy to organize a formal reorganization in December 1950 with five regional Hereford associations joining to plan a revived state organization.
