Dr Levon A Akopianitz an Eunice physician has a temporary restraining order preventing Lea General Hospital officials from hindering his practice. Judge Turner Hensley set April 23 for a final hearing and ordered defendants to show cause why the order should not become permanent. He alleges the hospital barred him without just cause despite licenses in New York Nebraska and New Mexico. The staff-privileges denial followed a credentials committee recommendation.

Hubbard Pleads Not Guilty Then Plea Reduced to Misdemeanor
Leverett W. Hubbard faced assault to commit murder charges and, on district attorney Kermit Nash’s motion, the case was reduced to misdemeanor assault and battery. Hill Burglars Still At Large
Police have not captured the burglars who entered Mrs Hill's Corner Grocery and Market Saturday night by prying a hasp from the back door. The theft included $52.50 from the cash register. Also reported, Jim Standfield a drug firm salesman, had a sport coat and sunglasses stolen from his car parked at the rear of B and J Drug.
Plane Hits Tower Near San Antonio
A B-29 Superfortress struck the WOAI radio tower west of San Antonio Texas injuring and scattering seven crew. Six men escaped before the aircraft burned for over an hour and the seventh crew member’s fate remained unclear. Survivors were taken to Randolph Field.

Oct 1 Deadline Sets Farmer Gas Tax Refunds
Farmers have until October to apply for refunds of the two cent federal tax on gasoline diesel oil and special fuels used in farming. The refunds span January through June 30 and are set by a law signed by President Eisenhower. IRS estimates about 60 million dollars yearly total or roughly 12 dollars per farmer across five million farmers.

Roy Stokes Father Dies in Arizona

Woman Sets Fires at White House and Executive Office Building
A 53 year old woman, Julia Chase, attempted to burn a Red Room chair with matches at the White House as visitors toured. Farm Prices Up In State
New Mexico farmers saw the index of prices received rise two points from February 15 to March 15, despite remaining 27 points below the national March level. Cotton, calves, sheep, lambs and chicks posted higher prices, while cattle and milk slipped. hog prices held steady and beef cattle edged higher. Nationally the index climbed four points in March, double New Mexico’s gain.
