Robert Moultrie Cook of a Florence County farm near Johnsonville, indicted by a federal grand jury for involuntary servitude and peonage of Max Roy McKenzie. Prosecutors say Cook forced McKenzie to work off alleged debts, beat him, and used threats and jail to compel labor while paying him $3 a day. Three miners trapped 262 feet underground since last Thursday learned they must spend at least another night in their underground prison. Rescue workers said the delay is to ensure safe and sound extraction. The men spoke to rescuers from an air pocket through a telephone line as drills advance in two rescue shafts with cement poured to seal against underground water.

Three U S soldiers missing and presumed captured after a battle 165 miles southwest of Saigon. A U S military spokesman said two officers and an enlisted medic believed seized by Communist forces as over 600 troops hunted with 43 U S helicopters. Aides to the three named captives gave Baltimore Maryland Mc Allen Texas and Spring Lake North Carolina as home towns. One U S Air Force lieutenant was wounded in the same operation when his light observation plane was hit. he landed safely at Camau. The three are believed to be the only U S soldiers held by the Communists at present.

Anderson Adds To Holdings In Eddy Chaves Counties
Santa Fe New Mexico rancher Robert O. Anderson of Roswell expanded his land portfolio by paying 34800 dollars as high bid for 4247 acres of grazing lands in Eddy and Chaves counties. The parcels near Carlsbad northwest of Dayton were auctioned by the U S Bureau of Land Management and included 8100 dollars in improvements such as fences windmill well and water tanks. Lincoln County Livestock Co. was the sole bidder at the sale, part of the Four Dinkus Ranch holdings.

A Komodo dragon named Henry, six feet long and 55 pounds, was recaptured after escaping a carnival sideshow. Buffaloes Headed to New Homes Across Nine States
Forty buffaloes from the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Lawton are being sold or donated to reduce the herd to about 1,000.
