Three Lovington co eds compete among 16 for Miss New Mexico Junior College 1973 at Thunderbird Gym on Saturday November 3. Judges include J C Maxwell Florence Anderson Judith Brown Jimmie Marshall Fern Sawyer. Debra Welch Pam Roberts and Vicki Jenkins represent Lovington.
Seventy two Lovington Secondary Schools students earned A averages for the first nine weeks of the 1973 74 year. Senior honorees include Sandra Berton James Bintz and others with high marks followed by juniors sophomores and 9th through 7th graders named by grade listing.
Robert G. Lewis national secretary of Farmers Union will address Lea County Farmers Union on Wednesday. A public luncheon at Fran's Shamrock Truck Stop Cafe will precede the talk at noon. Lewis, a former US Department of Agriculture official and chief US negotiator for the international grains trade treaty, just returned from Europe after talks with European Common Market officials.
Jay and Ruby Stuteville have sold Motor Parts Co at Lovington to Automotive Components Sales Co of San Antonio. They operated the business for 20 years and will continue to reside in Lovington. Terry Bloxum remains manager.
