Abner L. Wildman 82 longtime Tatum resident died in Oklahoma City after sudden illness. He operated a blacksmith shop in Tatum since 1928 then moved to Plains Texas in 1947 to run a shop. Services Friday at Smith Rogers Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Burial at Fort Sumner at 3 p.m. Survivors include three daughters Norma Curry Nada Lee Perry and Ronetta Brinkley and three sons Oliver Elwood and one more listed as Wildman.

In a near forty minute city commission session a new city manager was chosen Joe Smith to replace Wes Allen who resigns after ten years. Smith previously served as city manager 1949 to 1954 with pay of 590 dollars monthly while Allen earns 690. The vote to accept Allen’s resignation was unanimous and Smith agreed to take the post without a raise.
