Lovington School District Sees $104 000 Potential From State Relinquishment
Lovington Schools may add about 104000 to next year's budget from a state policy kickback. Supt. Larry Crouse said enrollments look strong and funds could come if rolls finish by November, despite earlier delays. The board approved hiring Brenda deVault to teach English II and IV and discussed adding 15 Link drive simulator units for a gubernatorial race context.

Hospital room rates rise two dollars a day
Lea County Hospital trustees approve a two dollar per day increase effective July 1 to support the 1968 69 budget. Wards rise to 17 dollars daily, semi private 20 dollars, private 23 and 26 dollars. The tax levy request was not approved to cover a projected nine percent budget increase to 1 978 806. Indigent care and unpaid accounts drove a 200 000 write off.

Six Killed In Flaming Crash Near Deming
Six members of a touring Mexican carnival family died in a fiery crash on Interstate 10 when their homemade camper was struck by a truck trailer. Four others escaped unharmed including the driver. The group from Agua Prieta were en route to Juarez for a show when the crash occurred 25 miles west of Deming.

Three Scholarships Awarded by Loving ton Public Schools
Loving ton Public Schools announced three scholarships to John Willoughby Randal Clevenger and Donny Joe Jones. Willoughby signed to attend Abilene Christian College and earned a track scholarship as a hurdler. Clevenger also earned a track scholarship as a javelin thrower while Jones received his scholarship from Field Service Inc.

The Defense Department lists 19 year old Marine Lance Cpl James L Foster son of Roswell as one of three New Mexico casualties reported Tuesday in Vietnam. Also Dead were Army Pvt Leroy F Valdez of Mora and Marine Pfc Michael J Morris of Albuquerque. Foster had written he was in many operations and was awaiting transfer home July 1.
