The Leader will publish a free student Classified section for high schoolers seeking summer work. Students print ads with name age address work type and experience and mail or bring them to the Leader office. Each ad runs at least twice with support from Lovington officials and counselors.
Dist. Judge J H Starley will withhold a ruling on a contempt citation against Walter E Heller Co until after the June 2 election. Plaintiffs J C Barnes Sr Jr Russell Ramsland and W F Wynn of Midland claim Heller violated a temporary injunction by not maintaining notes mortgages leases and property on anhydrous ammonia tanks tied to about 7 million dollars in Heller mortgages.
In Franklin Texas a team of medical experts autopsied the exhumed body of Henry H Marshall 52 to aid a grand jury in determining whether his death was homicide or suicide. Marshall was found June 3 with five rifle shots recorded as death cause before authorities reopened the case.

The Agriculture Department announced a plan to withdraw about 42 million bushels of government owned grain from Estes elevators over roughly 18 months. Officials said the action aims to protect public interests and reduce future storage risk while continuing investigations into Billie Sol Estes and related affairs.

The 6:30 p.m. program at Parnell Auditorium precedes a 7:30 p.m. business meeting election of two incumbents Hubert Gill and Jim Whittenberg and new directors Glen Werham Hammell Carrell and L D Patman.
