Premier Pflimlin, backed by a three month emergency power plan, urged General De Gaulle to clarify whether he would overthrow the Fourth Republic. He sought peace with the Algeria dissidents Raoul Salan and other generals, hoping to avert a civil conflict.

Glenn Schubert was elected commander of the Hobbs American Legion Post. Final rites for Cleve H Arnold 73 of Hobbs will be Sunday at Griffin Chapel with Rev. C R Brown officiating. Burial at Prairie View. Naul holds a straight A average and participates in multiple clubs including Future Teachers Club Roadrunners Club and National Honor Society. The Hobbs American Legion Auxiliary will sell 5,000 poppies on May 24 aiming to raise funds. Eunice will work to sell 1,000 poppies in the event.

A Texas native, he lived there since 1935 and is survived by wife Vineta, son Elmo, daughter in law, 12 grandchildren, and sister Minnie Stover of Clyde Texas. At Cape Canaveral the Redstone, 62 feet tall, launched by Battery A from the 49th Field Artillery Missile Group, finally roared aloft at 8 05 p.m. EDT after delays. Q B Bailey of Lovington a Negro was jailed after selling $18 worth of auto parts to Jim's Junk Yard. Barton Radiator Shop owner identified the items as his property. Wesley Vaughn and his wife, found in the car, admitted trips to the junk yard. Bailey could not remember details due to intoxication. Charges filed for petty larceny.
