Ex Lovingtonian Killed in Texas Collision
Former Lovington resident Charles E. Holcomb a Prudential Insurance agent living in Hobbs was killed in a head on crash on U S Highway 271 near Gladewater Texas on Sunday. Seven occupants of the other car four men and three women all Negroes were injured two of them killed in the collision while Holcomb died at the scene the crash occurred while Holcomb was on vacation traveling alone Funeral services were held at 4 p m today in Gladewater

Two Local Youths Survive Truck Crash Near Jal
William Mil and Castleberry, both 17, escaped serious injury when a 1965 Chevrolet pickup crashed 2.7 miles north of Jal on Highway 18 in dense fog. Driver Miles reportedly sped near 60 mph, the truck flipped, tore down power lines, and ended up on its side. Both youths were treated at Lea General Hospital Lovington in good condition. The vehicle was a total loss.
