Three Vandalism Cases Reported In Lovington
A wave of vandalism swept Lovington with three incidents in a week. At 1013 West Gore the Northside Baptist Church parsonage windows were smashed and paint smeared. A vacant house at 1516 West Aspen was broken into and back windows smashed with papers burned in a closet. A home under construction at 1413 West Cottonwood was entered with smeared walls carpets muddied and rear windows shattered. Damage estimated between 350 and 400 dollars. City police are investigating all three cases.

Theft Reported At Drilling Rig Near Lovington
Lea County Sheriff's Office investigates theft of a set sealed bearing worth 983.27 dollars from Honda Drilling Company's unit five rig about ten miles north of Lovington between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Presbyterians Plan To Attend Meeting In Texas Synod
Delegates Rev. Earl B. Brandon and Raymond Worrell from First Presbyterian Church will attend the 111th annual meeting of the Presbyterian U S Synod of Texas May 17-19 at Second Presbyterian Church in Houston. The board of trustees at Austin College seeks a self perpetuating board with half members from the church. The meeting will tackle sexual morality, a 1967 budget of 1 680 000, church growth, and issues in Christian relations including alcoholism mental health religion and schools birth control and race relations. The Synod includes 418 Texas churches and five in New Mexico.

Western Grill To Re Open About July 1

Boy Steals To Support Glue Habit
A 10 year old boy confessed to stealing a piggy bank from a police officer to fund his glue sniffing habit. He told Judge Sidney A. Jones he had sniffed several tubes daily for three months and replied Maybe when asked if he would steal again. The judge postponed the case to May 26 and urged strengthening the city anti glue sniffing ordinance to bar sales to juveniles.

Salvation Army Fund Drive Nets Lovington House-to-House Effort
Volunteers will canvass Lovington door to door starting Friday for the Salvation Army. Dr. L. P. Lovington's Holiday Swimming Club opens its 1966 season on Saturday with operations limited to Saturdays and Sundays until May 28.
