Two Forest Fires Burn In State
Two forest fires reported in New Mexico cover large areas and spread under high winds. The bigger blaze northwest of Conchas Dam in San Miguel County has burned between 6,000 and 10,000 acres. A second fire near Phillip Dodge Ranch between Cimarron and Dawson in Colfax County has scarred about 640 acres. Forest Service personnel were dispatched to both sites. Separate note: Lovington business leaders meet tonight at 7 in the high school cafeteria to discuss growth plans sponsored by the chamber of commerce industrial committee.

Man Killed In North Tatum Area Rollover
Raymond Lloyd Hare, 33, of Lubbock Texas, died in an ambulance en route to Lovington hospital after his car overturned on State Road 125 near the Gladell community. The northbound vehicle left the road struck the east shoulder traveled 169 feet before reentering the road and rolling twice. Hare was thrown from the car. State Patrolman M J Payne investigated the crash.
