A second major fire in two weeks in Lincoln National Forest was brought under control last night with about 200 firefighters still working hot spots. Three helicopters will drop slurry today as some crews are released. officials say drift from the cause points to man made origin and about 2800 acres burned. Governor Cargo toured the scene after declaring a state emergency to release $50,000 in funds.

Topics include What Think Ye of Christ Christ the Baptist Power for Today Gifts for Gods Children and Remade Men for a Modern World. Nursery will be provided. Jumper, a Mississippi native, is a former Coast Guard member who attended the University of Mississippi and was active in Westminster Fellowship and Omicron Delta Kappa. He studied at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Paul Harvey, ABC newscaster and General Features syndicate columnist, will headline Lea County Electric Cooperative annual meeting at Pannell Auditorium Monday night. Two District 1 directors, Hubert Gill and J. C. Whitenberg, are nominated for re-election by the nominating committee.
Lea County 4-H senior team placed second in wool judging with high point individual Gary Wiggins of North-Central Club. Other members are Ronald Hardin, Monument. Sherry York, Western Club. Craig McLean, Nadine Club. San Juan County won first. both teams advance to the National Wool Judging Contest in June at Sonora Texas.
Woodrow Coe announced the Holiday Swimming Pool and Club will open for the summer May 13-14 and May 20-21, then daily from May 27. Hours are 10 a.m. to sundown with a $1 membership. Coe returns to manage. free swimming instruction starts June 5. A lifeguard will be on duty. a baby pool and watching areas are available.
