The Atomic Energy Commission approved Kermac Nuclear Fuels Corp for a fourth processing mill in Grants New Mexico. Construction should start within 30 days on a multi million dollar facility with a contract through 1966. city leaders predict population growth to 12 000 within two years.
America's Maid of Cotton in Washington looks to start a Europe tour in June. Helen Landon of Huntington Tennessee, 20, says no Iron Curtain countries will appear on her itinerary. She adds she does not think reform is possible there.
The missing Piper Tri Pacer aircraft, last seen April, was found near the Burl Sears farm about five miles south and two miles west of Artesia. Two occupants, Barry Beadle and Don Walker, were found dead about 40 feet from the wreckage after a Civil Air Patrol search. Authorities believe the plane dived into the ground and scattered wreckage over a wide area.
State Land Commissioner reports royalty income rose last month from 1956. Murray Morgan announces a field man is added to the royalty division and has appointed Delbert Gideon of Truth or Consequences to the post.
Officials at Holloman Air Development Center host an Armed Forces Day celebration on May 18. The program includes a parade reception balloon launch fire fighting demonstration a Matador guided missile launch a drone kill and a stead run.
Two men faced charges before Justice of Peace Reese Greaves after a disturbance at the 200 Club on Friday night. Archie Andrew Todd was released on a 50 dollar bond on charges of being drunk and abusive. Buddy D Sportman was charged with capault with a deadly weapon.
George Hilton Butler, Tennessee safety commissioner, led dramatic safety drives with Panzer Roadblocks Longitudinal Roadblocks and Drunknets. The plan reduced highway fatalities, and Tennessee posted the fourth best safety record in 1956 despite a prior year tally of 906 deaths.

North Texas New Mexico division will receive 5816 shares valued at 299300 dollars. Eligibility requires one year of service and enrollment in the retirement plan. Participants may have 2 to 4 percent of annual earnings withheld to buy U S Government Series E Bonds.

Senator Joseph McCarthy will lie in state in the Senate chamber Monday with services to follow. He died Thursday at Bethesda Naval Hospital from a liver ailment and will be buried Tuesday in Appleton Wisconsin.

Lovington's library board met at 9 30 a.m. May 2 and accepted the resignation of assistant librarian Maxine Raser who leaves for Hobbs. Mrs Frank King will take the post June 1. Summer hours start June 1 from 9 to 12 and 1 to 4 Monday through Friday. The librarian is Mrs Lilly Campbell. Thirty five gift books and sixty new volumes arrived in April.
The Chevrolet station wagon stolen from Windell Green on Thursday was found east of Ariesia, stripped of battery, generator, three wheels, radio, headlights and license plates.
Hobbs made a strong bid but fell 2-1 to Midland on Friday. Plainview solidified first place in SWS with a 20-9 win over Carlsbay powered by six homers, four in the second inning. Clovis at Bal linger and El Paso at Pampa were postponed due to a flooded ball park. Hobbs hosts Ballinger Saturday and Midland Monday.
Testimony ruled in Albuquerque in a non jury trial of two suits arising from an oil drilling dispute in Lea County. A L Box sues Magnolia Petroleum Co for 112000 in damages for alleged negligent operations on Box land. Magnolia seeks 23000 against W L Box claiming obstruction of Lea and Roosevelt county land access.
Miss Mildred Lasater of Clovis High School won the national prize in the business speech section at the Distribu tive Education club competition in Oklahoma City. The contest drew about 40 high school students from area schools.
High officials reject fears the nation will run red this fiscal year. Defense fears are called groundless as Treasury and Budget Bureau expect a $1.7 billion surplus in June. Wilson criticizes Chamber of Commerce for pressure to cut defense despite tax pressures.
George Beach of Albuquerque has been nominated by President Eisenhower for a four year term as U S Marshal for the New Mexico district. Beach, a Republican, was first appointed in 1953.
The Interstate Commerce Commission will hold a hearing May 29 in Santa Fe on Nolan H. Brunson Inc. of Hobbs for a racking permit. New Mexico State Corporation Commission Chairman John Jock Jr. said the hearing will be held at the SCC offices before joint board No. 33.
Mrs. Jennie T. M. Masterson died around 3 00 A M May 3 at her Tatum home. Born January 28 1878 in Kentucky she was married to Harry A. Masterson and leaves a daughter Mrs. L A Summers of Tatum. Funeral services are set for May 5 at Smith Yarbro Chapel with burial in Tatum Cemetery. She had been bedfast several months and lived in Tatum nine years.
United Press correspondent Doc Quigg dined with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor at Woburn Abbey in Benffordshire England where the Duke revealed a plan to have American bison pie on demand. He noted a herd of American bison and a herd of European bison on the Windsor ancestral 20 000 acre estate.
The Teamsters strike disrupts freight in New Mexico with many Railway Express offices operating on skeletal staff. In Albuquerque more than 20 employees have been laid off as the strike continues without a state contract.
