In New Mexico primary returns Lusk carried 24 of 32 counties with San Miguel still incomplete while Cargo won six counties and Hawley 25. Burroughs carried seven counties as Lusk led by 22,023 to 10,731 in Bernalillo and Chavez defeated Jones in Santa Fe. Dolphin Thanks Fishermen For Help In North Sea
Tass reports a dolphin freed from a fishing net in the North Sea led fishermen to large shoals of herring. The dolphin swam ahead of the trawler and circled the ship while leaping before the bow. The echo sounder then identified a big school of fish, and the crew overfilled their catch by two hundred percent.

Boy on Bike Hit by Auto in Lovington Intersection
A 13 year old Lovington boy, Tommy Giese, was struck by an eastbound auto driven by 34 year old Consuelo T Salazar at Second and Harrison in north Lovington. He was taken to Lea General Hospital for observation with no broken bones. no citations were issued by city police.

Lusk to face Cargo in November governor race
In a dramatic upset for the Democratic nomination Governor hopeful Lusk beat Burroughs 83,421 to 55,518 with 1034 of 1098 boxes counted. State Rep. David Cargo won the Republican nod over Hawley and challenger Jones, with Chavez and Romero also securing statewide offices.
