Absentee Voting Okayed For School Elections
Gov Bruce King signed a bill allowing absentee voting in New Mexico school district elections bringing them in line with the state election code. The measure, sponsored by Sen John D Rogers, enables ballots for candidates or issues when voters cannot attend polls. King also signed a state credit card act and a bill on removing the director of the state law enforcement academy by the academy board.

The Lovington Little League and Pony League announce 1971 registration on April 1 2 and 5 at 7 00 p m in the Lea County Electric Community Room. All boys aged eight to fourteen must register to be eligible to play. those not registering will not be assigned to a team. State To Begin Bilingual Education In New Mexico

The annual March of Dimes dance at Tatum sponsored by Mrs Dessie Sawyer drew praise as the best yet. Loving ton High School senior Marilyn Coady won first place at the regional science fair in Roswell for her exhibit The Behavioral Toxicity and Physical Effects of Marijuana Opium Seconal Sodium and Destroamphemiums on Gerbils. She earned the trip to the International Science Fair in Kansas City and collected multiple honors including the USAF Award NM Pharmaceutical Award USA Army Award and a scholarship to Eastern New Mexico University. Marilyn is the first Lovington girl to represent the town at the international event under instructor Neil Collins.
