Pannell, president of New Mexico Junior College, said the college will receive 915 370 in federal funds after the State Board of Educational Finance awarded NMJC the highest points in the funding formula. The money funds the college construction program and was approved along with the 1966 67 budget of 3 830 598 for the college.

A 41 year old Denver City man W R Dick Spiers was charged with forgery over a 120 50 check drawn on Lovington National Bank. He was arrested in Lovington by Lea County Sheriff's Office and is jailed in Lea County pending a 5000 bond. He is the bookkeeper for Three County Grain and Warehouse Company of Sea Graves.

Lovington High School senior Bill Benge was chosen to represent his school and New Mexico at a national science fair in Dallas in May. He shared the Southeastern Regional Science Fair top honors with Henry B. Garrett Jr. of Roswell at the New Mexico Military Institute, winning seven awards including a $120 tuition scholarship to ENMA, an Air Force certificate, NASA award, and a Sanitarians Plaque for his exhibit Isolation of Radiation Protection Factor in Micrococcus Radiodurans.

Lions To Sell Light Bulbs By Lovington Lions Club
The Lovington Lions Club conducts its annual light bulb sale Friday and Monday nights door to door from 5 PM. Proceeds will fund sight conservation projects such as buying glasses for local youths. Bulbs come in car tons with four 100-watt bulbs two 75s and two 60s.

Lovington Driver Charged After Fatal Crash
A.R. Jackson of Lovington mourns his son Harvey Jackson who died in an Albuquerque area accident Saturday. The 16 year old Dareley B. Simmons of 1308 West Polk drove a 1956 Ford involved in a crash with 19 year old Brodie Lynn Caudle of Hobbs at the North Eleventh and Tyler streets intersection. Damages totaled 350 for Simmons’s car, 50 for Caudle’s, 18 for a street marker, and a parked Service Pipeline pickup was untouched. Caudle was charged with failure to yield right of way. Services were held Monday in Albuquerque.

Pioneer Resident John Wesley Williamson Dies at 95
Funeral services pending for John Wesley Williamson pioneer resident who died at 8:15 p.m. Monday at Lea General Hospital after illness. He lived in Hobbs convalescent center, previously at 518 West Harrison. Born in 1909 in Texas, he came to New Mexico in a covered wagon, taught school in McKinney, Texas, and later served Roosevelt County schools before turning to stock raising.
