Cave Collapse Kills 17-Year-Old on Padre Island
A sand dune cave on Padre Island collapsed trapping two 17 year olds from Corpus Christi. Jerry Litchfield died at the scene while Don Elmore was rescued in shock and rushed to a hospital. Police learned two local university students alerted authorities. The shaft was about 10 to 12 feet deep.
