Mrs Minnie Kondos died at Lea General Hospital near Amarillo after arriving from Jenario New Mexico. Funeral services set for Tuesday at 4 p m in Ama illo with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pearl Caddenhead 72 a former Lovington resident died in Phoenix Arizona funeral Thursday at Third Central Church of Christ with burial in Lovington Cemetery. Gilbert Esquibel infant son of Mr and Mrs Gilbert Esquibel of Route 1 Lovington burial at Lovington Cemetery after morning rites. Autopsy pending.
Alice Holeman Barbara Tulk Georganna Robinett and Sandy By rum are named as the official LHS varsity cheerleaders for the 1966 67 school year.
A U S District Court reapportionment decision for the New Mexico Senate will not be appealed to the Supreme Court by several intervening senators. A motion for reconsideration of at large provisions will be filed. Former Atty. Gen. Fred Standley urged against Supreme Court review.
An evening collision on State Highway 18 near Lovington caused extensive damage to two 1966 Chevrolets, one driven by Stephen Bridgforth and the other by Leeman W. Jones, with no injuries. Bridgforth received a citation for failure to yield.
Bond set at 3000 for Guy D. Downs aged 43 of Texas after Lea County deputies arrested him Monday as a fugitive from justice. He resided temporarily northeast of Lovington and is charged with cattle theft.
Lea County District Court held a busy session with numerous hearings and arraignments for both juveniles and adults. Juvenile dispositions included a 15 year old Lovington boy sent to New Mexico Boys School at Springer for parole violation and carrying a deadly weapon, and a 16 year old Hobbs boy whose parole was revoked and sent to Springer. Adults included Jason Edward New who pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced to one to five years with most time suspended, James M Willis who pled guilty to unlawful taking of auto and received one to five years with time suspended, and several others facing fines, probation, or deferred sentences for charges including driving with a revoked license, fraud, and aggravated assault.
Lea County Board of Commissioners held a brief one hour meeting at the Courthouse to review the New Mexico re appraisal bill creating a 1 million dollar fund for county by county property re evaluation. The panel discussed potential effects on taxes and school budgets, plus routine actions on Cowley Subdivision plat and a Northern Natural Gas pipeline permit.
A 24 year old Lovington resident Joseph M. Wilson was jailed in Lea County on a charge of fraud over $100 and under $2,500. The theft involved a color television set and was filed by Jesse Dickens of Dickens Appliance. Wilson was apprehended by the Lea County Sheriff's Office at Ta tum and returned to Lovington for bond and rights proceedings.
A 1964 Volkswagen driven by Bertha J. Wright turns six miles west of Tatum. Four family members suffer injuries including Billy G. Wright who has a serious leg fracture. The vehicle’s occupants are treated at Lea General Hospital Hobbs and Lovington. Harold Wright escapes injury.
The Leader reports Mrs Wright slept at the wheel of a Volkswagen heading west on U S 380. The car traveled 194 feet then 79 feet skid broadside, 35 feet more on its side, cleared a five foot fence, flipped again, rolled upright, and was listed a total loss. John is hospitalized at Lea General Hospital in Lovington for minor injuries while his father stays with him after treatment. Officer Todd confirms investigation ongoing.

A two car collision at Fifth and Central caused about $400 damage to a 1966 Ford sedan and a 1965 Comet. Floyd Lee Allen, 39, of 308 North Ninth, drove the Ford. Steve Wilson, 16, of Mallamar, the Comet. Allen was cited for failure to grant right of way.
