Lea County Crop Improvement Association revamps with a five member commission to handle all Lea County allotments of foundation cotton seed notably 1517 BR-1 and 1517 C. The state grants fewer seed than requested so local allotments must be set. Commission will oversee field gin inspections and seed allotments after April 1. Two More Highway Deaths Reported Toll Now Sixty Seven
State police report two new highway fatalities raise the year’s toll to 67. Roxana Flood 23 of Las Cruces and her son Donald 3 died when their car hit a truck after an emergency stop. The Floods’ husband Paul 22 and daughter Sharon 2 were injured. A separate crash killed Nicolas Lujan 59 on US 85 near Albquerque. Two Santa Fe men were arrested 12 hours later for suspected involvement. Paul Chavez 27 and Faustin Gonzales 27 were jailed in Bernalillo county for investigation of the fatal crash.
