Odessa Man Loses Legs in Lea County Oilfield Accident
James H. Whitenton, 42, of Odessa, suffered the loss of parts of both legs when a derrick booster fell onto him at a Crossroads area oil site 40 miles north of Lovington. He was transported to Lea General Hospital Hobbs for treatment after initial care at Lea General Lovington. Gerald Hooper of Odessa, acting as pusher, was uninjured.
