Viet Cong says it will release 32 U S military personnel and civilians in Hanoi on Friday, bringing this week’s total POW releases to 140. North Vietnam had earlier listed 108 Americans to be freed on Wednesday, as ceasefire terms press for full repatriation by March 28.

Clovis City Attorney Charged in Tax Case
UPI reports Clovis City Attorney Harry L. Patton was fined 1 for failing to file 1969 income tax returns and previously faced charges over 1967 and 1968. He paid the fine immediately after a federal judge’s action. Patton had pleaded no contest to 1969 charges after earlier pleas of innocence. Longtime Lea Resident Alma Goodwin Dies at 97
Alma Clementine Goodwin, a Lea County resident since 1910, died at her home after a sudden illness. Born March 27, 1875 in Quitman Texas, she ranched west of Hobbs before moving to Lovington about nine years ago. She is survived by two sisters, a nephew in Caracas, and three nieces in Lovington Ft Worth and El Paso. Graveside services were held at Prairie Haven Cemetery Hobbs with Rev Billy Beauchamp officiating. Casketbearers included Curry Pruit Walter Beverly Sam Morrow Jim Abbott Joel Frier Mark Smith and Joe Price.
