Man uses carrier pigeon in court in Savannah
A. J. White, 3, charged with improper proposals to a teenage girl, claimed it was a mistake. He testified he used pigeons to send messages to his wife since he had no phone. He admitted dropping a note and sending another to meet at 5 p.m. with $10. a pigeon was presented to the court, but Judge Alexander ordered him held for a jury trial.

Human Skull Found Near Ruidoso
Sheriff Owen Bradley said a skull found six miles north of Ruidoso would be sent to the FBI in Washington to date and identify it. He estimated burial occurred 25 to 500 years before discovery and denied links to a previous Alamogordo torso case. Donald Ray Martin, age unknown, found the skull on the Wilson ranch while his father worked on a well. the upper teeth were nearly intact, the lower jaw missing.

Funeral services held for Mrs. Mary Etta Taylor
Funeral services for Mary Etta Taylor 54 were conducted Monday at First Baptist Church with ministers Beauchamp and DeWees officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens Hobbs. She was born March 8, 1908 in Texas and died Saturday in Hobbs Lea General Hospital after two years illness. Survivors include husband Gaston E. Taylor a daughter Mrs. John Young Merkel Texas two grandsons two brothers Clyde Stanbro Pueblo Colorado and David Stanbro Hobbs and three sisters Mrs. Joe Wyche Mrs. B. H. Pope and Mrs. O. S. Bigham Lovington. Memorials to Cancer Fund requested via Charlie Campbell.
